Sean O’Hagan is mainly known as the writer, founder and arranger of The High Llamas. He is also a recording member of Stereolab working mainly as an arranger. Prior to this, Sean founded Microdisney with Cathal Coughlan, with whom he co-wrote the band’s music throughout the 1980s. As a freelance music arranger Sean has worked with Gilberto Gil, Paul Weller, Super Furry Animals, Doves , Gruff Rhys, Ian Brodie, Miles Kane, Elza Souares, Vanessa Da Mata, Sondre Lechre, Francois and the Atlas Mountains, The Charlatans , Tim Burgess, The Coral, St Etienne and Marker Starling. In 2017 Sean was commissioned by Hull City of Culture to write and perform “We Start Counting” , a tribute to Basil Kirchin. Sean has scored movie soundtracks (four with Tim Gane of Stereolab) and has also collaborated with artist Jean Pierre Muller on the Musical painting projects. Sean released his second solo album “Radum Calls, Radum Calls” via Drag City in October 2019.
