Biography

Keita Sano is a prolific Japanese producer whose tracks range from sunny disco-house to noisy lo-fi techno, occasionally venturing into other styles such as glitch-hop and jungle. The Okayama-based artist first began making jazz before switching to electronic music, preferring to produce tracks rather than DJ. A few EPs appeared online in 2012, and his self-titled debut album was released by Strictly Groove Recordings in early 2013. His tracks began hitting turntables in 2014, with rough techno single "People Are Changing" (on Mister Saturday Night) grabbing the attention of tastemakers like Resident Advisor. In 2015, Canadian label 1080p released Holding New Cards, a sprawling 70-minute cassette containing some of Sano's most daring productions to date. 12" singles and EPs kept coming on at least a dozen other labels, including Holic Trax, Rett I Fletta (who also released Sano's self-titled full-length), and Sheik 'N' Beik Records. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
