Matthew Guthrie, popularly known as Knytro, is a celebrated rap artist from South London with Jamaican roots. These influences, combined with a culturally rich upbringing, carved his path in music. By 13, he'd embraced the name Knytro, symbolizing "Knowledge Navigated by Yesterday's Truth, Respect, and Originality." In 2013, Knytro signed with MTA Records, owned by acclaimed producers Chase and Status. His first MTA release, "Project Haarpoon," was praised for its compelling music and visuals, particularly by Zane Lowe of BBC Radio 1 who dubbed it the "Best Mixtape of 2013." Videos for tracks like "Still Standing" and "Status Quo" enhanced his widespread appeal. Knytro's rising prominence in music saw him tour with giants like Chase and Status, Pusha-T, and even collaborate with Wu-Tang Clan's Raekwon on "Gangasta Boogie." He has also supported top-tier artists like Snoop Dogg and Public Enemy. In 2014, "The Griffin EP" launch intensified his grip on the rap genre. However, he soon took a hiatus to explore his creativity in Jamaica, the US, and Africa, broadening his musical insights. Returning in 2023, Knytro is set to showcase his evolved artistry through a series of visual narratives. His South London roots, global experiences, and unwavering dedication to truth and originality make him a distinctive force in rap.
