Biography

New York’s Ras Beats’ is a veteran in the game through and through, from crate digging to producing, from renowned hip-hop DJ to owning a label at Worldwyde Recordings, Ras Beats is one of the hardest working artists in hip-hop. His work in hip-hop culture cannot be overstated enough, with almost two decades worth of work to speak on including his debut album “Control Your Own” the Danish born artist is continuing to create and have his impact felt. Underground and mainstream publications alike have covered the multi-faceted artist solidifying his worldwide appeal. As the summer of 2020 approaches, Ras has no intention of slowing down with more art in the pipeline.
Ras Beats body of work stacks high, but his story begins when he was younger, discovering hip-hop with his brother. “...if he bought something, I would buy another album so we would have more to listen to,” Ras Beats recalls. The New York upstart practiced on his brother’s turntables before getting his own, fast forward to now and Ras Beats is creating the music he believes in. “I realized I never got tired of looking for new sounds and creating,” Ras says, “I feel the world go quiet when I make music.” You can go all the way back to 2003 to find the beginning of Ras Beats’ discography. He intentionally has a focus on drums that thump in your ear, basslines and distant sounds making his art sound familiar but completely original.
