Biography

Born and raised in the Bronx, Ignis is a rapper, writer, & filmmaker who encourages a passion for storytelling and authenticity through his artistic endeavors. He began rapping in high school with his producer, Muso, and later founded a homegrown collective of talented bronx artists known as LISTEN2THEKIDS, creating a platform for open mics, shows, and highlighting artists in the borough of Hip Hop’s conception. Ignis incorporated the nuances and raw expression heard in gospel and soul records he grew up on into his songwriting, maneuvering its essence into his rap lyrics. His 2017 mixtape, VANITY, was accompanied by very moody, introspective and theatrical tones capturing his emotions very rawly & expressionist. Working on other projects in 2018 such as PROTOTYPE, he stunts his lyrical prowess as a rapper, and THEKIDSTAPE with his group producing CANT BEHAVE and MARDIGRAS, tunes that could possibly break the ceiling. His 2019 solo album, VIRTUE, the multi media project that includes an album, short film, and artwork is a testament to the years since he began working on his craft. This latest album doubles down on the grand and theatrics of his previous work, with detailed and nuanced lyricism that brings you to a world that strengthens faith in creation. He is one of the lead creatives in revolutionizing the underground art world in New York City. The goal was becoming the legend he wish he saw when he as growing up and for the next generations.
