Biography

With their dance-inspiring mix of rhumba, salsa, mambo, songo, son and jazz, San Francisco-based Conjunto Cespedes has reached the pinnacle of Latin music. The New York Times went so far as to call them "the most important group in the flourishing West Coast Latin music scene." Formed as a family trio, featuring brothers Gladys "Bobi" and Guillermo Cespedes, Conjunto Cespedes has evolved into an exciting 11-piece band. While "Bobi" Cespedes leads the group with his dynamic singing, Guillermo, who plays bells, chekere, piano, and tres and sings background, serves as music director. Conjunto Cespedes' debut album, Una Sola Casa received a NAIRD (National Association of Independent Record Distributors) Indie Award for Best Latin Recording of 1993. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
