Biography

A humanist, artist, producer, DJ and composer Coco defies genres and creates music for the mood, no matter the decade. If anything Coco is a Future Fusionist, always leaning on his East London roots. From 1986 writing electro, hiphop & house on a commodore 64 to composing musicians from India, Brazil and Lebanon, Coco is well respected globally for being a humble creative. Coco began recording at the infamous UK record label Street Sounds where he went on to co-produce the first British Hip Hop album to be made outside the United States, Faze One “Heroes” (1987) and remixing artists such as Scott La Rock & KRS 1 from Boogie Down Productions. Soon afterwards releasing 12” electro and UK-Hardcore hits under the moniker T.A.S (The Altered States) on Profile Records (1990). From there, Coco switched over to the new urban UK sounds emerging from the East-end of London, always innovating and collaborating with the key players at the helm of the London Rave scene. When British record labels didn’t know what to do with artists of non-Anglo backgrounds, Coco and his act - Earthtribe, broke down barriers and stereotypes. Alongside Joi, Talvin Singh, the late State of Bengal, Badmarsh and later Nitin Sawnhey, Coco was at the forefront of the UK originated and now globally recognised Asian Underground movement. The original, core line up of Earthtribe, including - Sanjeve Rupal, Sanjay Varma & MC Daddy E, with Coco, released the full length album One Earth One Tribe Vol.1 (2004)
