The Jerusalem Orchestra East West is a multi-cultural orchestra comprising musicians from three religions, from all over the country and from all of Israel’s diverse groups. The orchestra is a unique organization on the world music scene, which weaves together artistic excellence and entertainment as an intentional agenda. At 2022, the orchestra gained recognition as the leading orchestra of Israel, by the culture & sport state department. The orchestral arrangements, which are composed by its musical director, are based on a musical language developed over many years. The language combines and “blends” musical methodologies from east and west into a unified, coherent and organic language, which ties together maqams and rhythms from Arab Islamic countries with western harmony and aesthetics תזמורת ירושלים מזרח ומערב שואבת השראה מרב השיח התרבותי העשיר שמתקיים כבר אלפי שנים בעיר שבה היא שוכנת, ושוקדת על הרחבה תמידית של המבע האמנותי שלה כדי להכיל עוד ועוד קולות ומסורות. בעקבות חזונו מרחיק הלכת של מאסטרו תום כהן, התפתחה בתזמורת שפה מוזיקלית חדשה שמחברת את הקלאסיקה וההרמוניות של המערב אל המקאמים ורבעי הטונים של המזרח, וזאת מבלי לוותר על מאפייניה הייחודיים של כל אחת מהשפות. ב-14 שנות פעילותה הצליחה התזמורת לייצר חתימת סאונד מובחנת משלה, להופיע עם כוכבי ענק מישראל ומחו"ל, לקחת חלק בתהליך הלא רשמי של עיצוב הסאונד הישראלי, ולחשוף את הקהל בישראל ובעולם לאוצרות תרבותיים מהמרחב העצום שבין פרס לאנדלוסיה. בשנת 2022 נבחרה התזמורת ע"י משרד התרבות הישראלי לשאת בתואר "התזמורת המובילה בישראל"
