Chubby Thabz whose real name is Thabang Mabooe said that the love and passion for rap music was ignited in 2004 when he started high school and would attend cyphers, he said this ignited fire within him and motivated him to start writing his own lyrics. Throughout the years he recorded several tracks, However, in 2015, when he worked with 'Rootedsoul' a well-known house music producer/DJ his fortunes started to change and released couple of singles like the smash hit “Baby Jake Matlala” and “Get Naughty”,soon after recording with RawGruv entertainment a significance amount of traction was built up. In 2016, He signed with Deep Night Entertainment, which is an independent record label owned by the house heavyweights, Afrikan Roots. Under Deep Night Entertainment, he put out hits such as “Girl Next Door” which had a huge impact within the Pretoria hip-hop scene.
