Biography

Michael Averill is an adventurous Canadian troubadour who delivers stories and songs of serendipity around the country by foot. He has literally walked over 4000 miles of Canada, leaving smiles and positivity in his wake. “Michael has a pied piper quality to him. He is a community builder, scene creator, and movement organizer. He is a teacher and inspirational leader that has the ability to gather the arts community around him, and take them in directions they might not achieve on their own.” – Chris Brandt, Founder of Charity Agency, Former Executive Director of Music Heals Onstage, Michael’s performance versatility ranges from swampy slide blues , to intricate finger-style folk, to driving shanties about mismatched socks. He combines buttery guitar licks and philosophical wordplay into the perfect blend of silly and sensitive. Michael just released his final album in his Canadian walking tour collection titled, “Famous People's Songs.” It’s a body of works inspired by the final legs of his journey, and a reflection on the entire experience itself. These songs will find their way into the a book Michael will be releasing in the Fall, so keep your eyes and ears open for that!
