SOIA's sound is adorned with playful melodies, and fuses HipHop, R&B, NuSoul and Jazz over saturated and ample beats. The downright lyrics offer deep insights into SOIA’s soul. The music revives her musical roots of the nineties and molds it with her intrinsic love and appreciation for Fusion Jazz, Soul vocalists, East African pentatonic and West African drum patterns. Her latest work WHERE MAGNOLIA GROWS is SOIA's third solo album and was released on Beat Art Department, a new sub-label of the well-renowned Munich-based record label Compost Records. The songs range between sensual soul and expressive contemporary R&B, neatly packed in a shell of electronic synths and keys. The electronic Hip Hop beats make your head nod while SOIA’s voice makes you close your eyes in delight. She has appeared live at festivals and radio shows such as SXSW, BBC London and Sonic Visions, as well as at numerous club gigs from Cape Town to Taipei. To further exteriorize her message, she started producing music on her own and will be releasing her first solo-produced album "Euphoria & Paranoia" on her label „Tiger Milk Music“. Beforehand, guitarist and producer Pale Male and Soia cooked up a sonic offering taking shape as “Dirty Angels“. The EP will take its sweet time evolving throughout 2024.
