WOLF!—the beloved Brooklyn-based guitarist Scott Metzger's "Telecaster rock trio" w/ bassist Jon Shaw & drummer Taylor Floreth—returns w/ new EP, Adult Entertainment. Sounding like the love child of Pulp Fiction & The Endless Summer running off under a full moon, WOLF!'s greasy instrumentals weave elements of surf, rockabilly & boogaloo into a delectable musical affair. Tone, touch & taste are always front & center. "We had WOLF! up & running pretty hard in 2016. There were 2 really great albums, a bunch of sold out shows, a few songs licensed to film & then our attention got pulled towards other endeavors," explains Metzger. "In 2018, we put down some tracks, but again the recordings wound up on the back burner. Following the pandemic, it became apparent that it was time to finish the EP & get the band playing shows again." Adult Entertainment refines the distinct approach heard on WOLF!'s first 2 albums w/ songs like "Ratso" & "Patty Cake," but expands the concept w/ "Hey Francis," a sub-octave guitar rock gem underpinned by a clave rhythm, the lilting exotica of "Hawaiian Shirt" ft. Marco Benevento on Farfisa organ & jaunty Gabor Szabo-meets-Bill Frisell set closer "Cottonmouth." Along w/ WOLF!, Metzger tours w/ Grateful Dead revivalists, JRAD, & can be found picking on numerous studio sessions like those by Anders Osborne, Shooter Jennings & Craig Finn. However, it’s Metzger's instrumental trio, WOLF!, that reveals his own distinct voice as a guitarist.
