Biography

“Twiddly, fiddly math-rock riffs chucked in a Nutribullet with the bombast and ambition of pop music” - Noisey
“Atop sharp-edged, angular collisions, Orchards manage to cram approximately 5 killer hooks into the space of a single song” – DIY
“The band’s whip-smart math-pop is all glistening surface and immediate melody, but beneath this chrome-plated chassis lies a complex rhythmic engine” - Clash
New single I Feel Terrible marks their new shift in tone - a break up song that verges on the cusp of an anthem wrapped in the summery melodies and joy synonymous with Orchards. “It feels so good to finally get this track out there and heard. We are super proud of how it turned out. It was written at a point where as musicians we were feeling quite stagnant and stuck but it really birthed new life into us.” says bassist Dan Fane. That stagnancy is no where evident, instead Lucy Evers’ vocal delivery is almost vitriolic as she belts out “Someone get me out of here / ‘Cause life's been pushing at my limits”, drawing on a sense of catharsis, of freedom, of hopeful release and ultimately new beginnings. Couple that with the gorgeous vocal interplay between Evers and Fane plus the intricate guitar melodies from Sam Rushton, and the magic between the trio has well and truly been sparked.
Hailed by Huw Stephens as ‘One To Watch’, the band have been supported by BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music, Noisey, The Line of Best Fit, Wonderland, DIY, Dork, Upset and more.
