Biography

Far From Ya Average was created in 2008 by MC/Producer K-Rock Tha Fantom and MC Stryve in San Diego, CA. Both from famed rap crews, Mastamyndz and Bottom Of Cali respectively, found commonality in their love for golden era lyricism and jazzy beats. In 2012, they released their first album as a duo, "Introducing..." Crowd favorite, "Fire (The Anthem)", featuring future bandmate Def Shon, became the catalyst for what they would soon become, a power trio. 2013 brought the first of two magnum opuses, "Stage Crasher" and a new "outside the box" approach. Blending different styles and genres such as Metal, Techno, R & B with a hip hop rooted sound from either coast, kept them well distinguished from their peers and quickly becoming one of the most talked about groups in America's finest city. For their next outing and most successful album to date, "The Basement LP", they had one mission in mind, to create a golden era classic of their own. Enlisting legendary producer, Mr. Ridley, to man the boards and collecting features from hip hop royalty such as Edo G., Jayo Felony, Bo Roc, Black Mikey & Madd Joker, "The Basement LP" was a concept album complete with skits, a beatbox cypher and brash and entertaining local DJ Motor Mouth sprinkled throughout. It was a reinvention of sorts yet again for F.F.Y.A. who had now characterized their music as a "box of chocolates". After a hiatus, they returned in 2018 with a best-of album and two brand new singles, "Anxious" and "Tom Morello".
