Vito Lays was born May 14th, in southwest Detroit, MI. He was raised by his father on 7 mile where his dad discovered Vito was musically inclined at a very early age. Vito would often be awakened by his father to freestyle for his friends after they would point to random objects in the home. Those late nights would fuel Vito to start battle rapping in school hallways making a name for himself. While he was developing his craft, the man that helped him discover his talent was taken away. After a battle with drugs and alcohol his father fell into a depression and committed suicide. That caused Vito to have to grow up fast and take care of himself. He turned to the streets of Detroit and became involved in the drug game to make ends meet. That lifestyle caused him to make a choice choosing real life over his dreams and musical talent. Right when he was about to give up on the music scene in Detroit, he met heavy weight music producer Helluva. He told his friends “If I could meet this guy…I would rap again”. Not only did they meet they became best friends and business partners. Even though it seemed Vito was on to bigger things, the street life caught up with him. He not only lost money but more importantly he lost his cousin Rokey who was his right hand man. Rokey’s death turned his world upside down. Trying to numb the pain and not deal with his emotions, Vito ran the streets. He learned the only way out of it was through his music.
