Biography

From their beginnings in a radio station production suite, Deep Obsession shot to fame very quickly and made history on the official New Zealand Singles Chart with each of their first three singles reaching No.1. The group has the most No.1 hit singles in New Zealand chart history. The group emerged in 1998, when Zara Clark and Vanessa Kelly were brought together by producer, songwriter and musician Christopher Banks. After signing to Universal Music New Zealand, Deep Obsession first hit No.1 with ‘Lost In Love’, a cover version of the 1980 hit by Air Supply. With a strongly developed Eurodance nightclubbing image, they toured internationally and opened for Boney M, Hanson, and S Club 7, among others. The album Infinity was released in 1999 and went to No.8 on the Official NZ Album Chart and was certified platinum. The album yielded two more singles: ‘You Got The Feeling’ hit No.17 and ‘I Surrender’ charted at No.25. -Steven Shaw, Audio Culture https://www.audioculture.co.nz/people/deep-obsession
