Fixed version: Broken Composers is a duo of interdisciplinary artists, Kirill Rave and Vitali Yu. Launched at the 2017 Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, we are engaged in experimental art, music, multimedia installations, and stage performances. The radical aesthetic language we have developed aims to distort perception, breaking both ourselves and our viewers out of the everyday paradigm and routine, immersing everyone in an unfamiliar world where the usual system of coordinates does not work. Complex arrangements, live recordings, and DIY music instruments are the three most important tools in BC’s approach. Electronic devices interact with flutes, whistles, and metalwork percussion—chains, hammers, pipes, and others. The visual part of the performance works the same way; it is based on unique handmade installations focused on the refraction of the laser beam and glass prisms.
