Kombonka (Ebrima Touray) started his career as a performing artiste in 2013. After returning from his failed “Back Way” journey to Europe via Libya in 2017, he started working on solo projects. In 2019, Kombonka signed to GSC Records, a label pioneered by UK based Producer and Audio Engineer, Malang Fatty. In January 2022, he launched his debut album titled “Yalong Ngalong” at QCity to an audience of over 15,000 fans. He has since embarked on a nationwide album tour delivering messages of both entertainment and sensitization to his fans. Kombonka’s music, widely regarded as innovative and unique, blends Gambian local instruments and rhythms with Hip Hop and Trap, delivering a fresh sound with familiarity to audiences around the world. In his lyricism, presence and musical representation of The Gambia, Kombonka is focused on delivering rich and memorable music that connects beyond language. Kombonka is indeed a self appointed cultural ambassador for The Gambia that takes the roles serious and with intention. Winner of the Rap Hip Hop Artist and Album of the Year at the 2022 Wah Sa Halat Music Awards (The Gambia), Kombonka's sophomore album, Silakang, is out now.
