New York's NYCL Kai combines the swagger of trap and the snotty attitude of skate-punk on his own brand of hip-hop, as heard on his eponymous 2020 debut album. Growing up in the Bronx, Kai learnt how to play bass from an early age, inspired by the punk and hip-hop that he'd heard while being an active member of the N.Y.C. skate community.
