Małgorzata Walewska is an accomplished Polish dramatic mezzo-soprano. Over the years she has performed on the stages of most prominent opera houses, including Vienna State Opera, Royal Opera House, Metropolitan Opera, Semperoper in Dresden or Deutsche Oper Berlin. Her voice is notable for its dark and rich timbre and she has an electrifying stage presence which accounted for her spectacular interpretations of Carmen, Dalila, Amneris or Eboli and more recently Kundry, Mistress Quickly, the Old Lady in Bernstein’s Candide. Małgorzata Walewska has always enjoyed traveling through different music styles, which is reflected in her album appearances such as Christmas Time with traditional Polish Christmas carols, Panta Rhei where classical music is combined with electronic sounds, Mezzo with songs and arias in contemporary arrangements as well as solo album Voce di Donna released by Sony Classical. Her discography continues to expand. Her most recent appearances include a solo album Mieczysław Karłowicz. Pieśni with the Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin, the part of Chamberlain's wife in The Fryderyk Chopin Institute’s release of the most popular Polish title by S. Moniuszko The Haunted Manor as well as the mezzo-soprano part in W. Kilar’s Missa pro pace. Małgorzata Walewska has also appeared as Jochebed in Warner Classics’ release of the world premiere recording of A. Rubinstein’s religious opera Moses led by Maestro Michail Jurowski.
