J. Kimo Williams attended Berklee College of Music in Boston from 1973 to 1976 and honed his skills as a composer, blending jazz and classical elements in his compositions. In 1975, he formed the ensemble "Kimotion," formerly known as "The Paumalu Symphony," and used his unique harmonic technique, Diagonal Harmony, to express his compositional ideas. The ensemble, consisting of 22 musicians including strings, brass, woodwinds, guitar, keyboards, and percussion, creates high-energy music that blends rock and jazz. In 1991, Williams released his first album, "War Stories," which received critical acclaim, followed by "Tracking" in 2001 featuring Victor Bailey, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Michael Brecker. He also released "Kimotion Live 2002 with My Friend Vinnie," a live recording from a concert at Pepperdine University. Williams runs his own recording label and studio, Little Beck Music, and is currently working on his latest release, "Red Summer 1919: An Instrumental Opera." He aims for his music to be a means of emotional communication between himself and the listener. More: https://www.omikmusic.com
