Alicia Jo Rabins is a writer, musician, composer, and performer who creates multi-genre works of experimental beauty exploring the intersection of ancient wisdom texts with everyday life. An award-winning poet and intrepid violinist, Rabins is the creator and performer of Girls in Trouble, an indie-folk song cycle about the complicated lives of Biblical women, and A Kaddish for Bernie Madoff, a chamber-rock opera about finance and spirituality, currently being made into an independent film. She also has a deep love of fiddle music, toured across Central America and Kuwait as a cultural ambassador for the US State Department/Jazz at Lincoln Center, and played with klezmer-punk rockers Golem for eight years; her album Sugar Shack is a treasure trove of original and traditional fiddle tunes. Rabins tours internationally as a violinist, singer, and hybrid performer.
