French-Armenian singer and multi-instrumentalist Sevana Tchak’s musical background is strongly influenced by Armenian folk, hip-hop and pop and consolidated by training in classical piano and singing. Her powerful voice can modulate effortlessly from a ballad to rap, from a dance tune to a traditional lament song. Her contagious energy will easily get everyone standing and dancing. She writes strong lyrics in Armenian, French and English, while offering punchy phrases on keys and accordion, and complex grooves on percussion. She co-founded the alternative-folk band Collectif Medz Bazar, with whom she toured regularly in Europe, North America and the Middle-East from 2012 to 2020. In 2015, Sevana moved from France to Armenia to lead several music and community development projects. Frequently invited to collaborate with artists from around the world, Sevana Tchakerian is a fervent advocate of women empowerment through music. In 2018, she co-founded Music Action Women, a series of international music and women's rights residencies bringing together professional female musicians from around the world.
