Hanako is a Warsaw, Poland based band known for it's unique blend of noise rock, screamo and post-hardcore with sometimes emotional - sometimes poppy vocals. Named after the elephant which died in 2016 in Tokyo zoo after more than 60 years in tiny, concrete exhibit. Despite more than half million signatures under a special petition, the zoo officials didn't allow to move the elephant into the sanctuary for her last years. The band targets such tragedies in it's lyrics - being it the suffering of an elephant, discrimination of minorities, exploitation, global warming and more personal struggles such as frustration, loneliness and burnout. In february 2019 the legendary Warsaw-based label Trzy Szóstki released their debut LP - "Powiedz mi, że to przetrwasz" ("Tell me that you'll survive this") which was promoted across Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Czech Republic and Slovakia. They've played which such bands as Cloud Nothings, Cocaine Piss, The Sweet Release of Death and Neighbours Burning Neighbours and on festivals in Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia. In 2023 they've moved to their own label - Peleton Records and announced their new album - "Śluza" ("Floodgate") set to release on April 21st.
