Aotearoa born and raised KALALA has been creating and performing on Wurundjeri land (Melbourne) since 2011. A mix bag of soul entertainment, KALALA has travelled across European soil in 2018 as apart of Indigenous feminist caberet show HOT BROWN HONEY and has lended live backing vocals to SAMPA THE GREAT during her aus/nz THE RETURN TOUR. Adopting musical tastes from her Samoan-Chinese father and proud Fijian mother KALALA sonically blends tradional soul, folk and jazz. KALALA lovingly curates and performs music with meaningful social commentary in musical features such as OCEANS BEFORE ME, So.Crates and her current duo GOODLUCK OMEN with guitar virtuoso DIEGO VILLALTA. From soothing vocal tones accompanied by acoustic guitar to theremin solos, ever evolving KALALA will step back from live performance to turn her sights to recording in her humble home recording studio in Footscray. KALALA will be releasing highly anticipated music in 2021/2022 baring her thoughts and developing her own original musical tastes amidst the backdrop of a global pandemic.
