Jacob Roved is a jazz drummer and composer who is a familiar face on the Danish jazz scene. His drumming is tastefully rooted in the jazz tradition and reflects a profound musicality with a personal style that reveals a range of influences from great drummers like Art Blakey, Max Roach, Elvin Jones, and Jon Christensen. His main group, the Jacob Roved Quintet, was formed in 2008 and features the phenomenal American clarinet and saxophone virtuoso John Ruocco and three multi-award winning musicians from the Danish jazz scene: trumpet player Thomas Fryland, pianist Kathrine Windfeld, and double bass player Jesper Bodilsen. The music is rooted in the American jazz tradition, but not shy of its heritage from European classical music. Jacob Roved Quintet has given concerts in France, Sweden, and Denmark, including several international jazz festivals. Jacob Roved also has a classic organ jazz trio in collaboration with the Finnish guitarist Sami Linna and the Greek Hammond organist George Kontrafouris. The trio pays tribute to the American organ jazz of the 1960s. The vintage sound of this trio is inspired by Hammond organ greats Don Patterson, Larry Young, and Freddie Roach, and is characterized by its groovy swing, positive energy, and an engaging joy of playing. In March 2023, the trio will release the album "Our Groove Your Move".
