After spending years in the YouTube mashup game, Melbourne musician Sam Beros wanted to delve into producing sounds with a more unique style. Harvesting a love for cutesy videogame soundtracks, he set out on a mission to blend those sounds with the catchiness of all the good pop music. Thus, in the midpoint of 2015, Gallagath was born. After a couple of web exclusives, Gallagath dropped debut album Colours in March 2017. Later came Colours II, a more eccentric counterpart to the first. May 2018 saw the release of Veracity, the first album to feature his signature tuned vocal production, while still harboring the playful ambient instrumentalia of his first two releases. Eighteen months later came the release of Reflections, further followed by the 80s-tinged Wake Up! and other singles. 2022 album Abnormal Nocturnal touched upon the depressive haze of internet-fueled isolation, seeing his vocoded, game-inspired sound delve into the extended universe of hyperpop. 2023's Daylight soothed in the other direction. 2024’s The Future Is Now, Old Man! saw him sharpen his pen with a silliness only matched by its digital humanity and hooks. His next album is set to be his most truthful yet: The Path releases in 2025, promising to once again bring signature synth-tinged honesty and self-reflection in ballads and bangers alike. When not doing Gallagath things, Sam also spends his time pressing down piano keys for the fast-rising alternative rock band The Clever References.
