Anelisa Lamola is fast emerging as an outstanding vocal talent on the UK music scene. The South African born Londoner has been singing for as long as she can remember. Back home in the church choir, and in school theatrical productions. As an ambitious young woman she set a course for stardom in musical theatre. Appearing in The Lion King, The Color Purple and a solo performance of the South African National Anthem for the worldwide televised Rugby World Cup final are some of the proudest moments of her early career and her talent continues to grow. Today, Lamola’s powerful, soulful voice is balanced with a sweetness and effortless delivery so strongly redolent of the classic soul era that it has drawn comparison to Chaka Khan, and Queen Aretha herself (no less!) She’s now set her sights on a career as a recording artist, and, so far, so great! Since appearing with Chase & Status on BBC’s “Later With Jools Holland”, Anelisa has found herself increasingly in demand with producers on the UK dance and pop music scene. Icarus’ “King Kong” (BBC Radio One record of the week) featured the singer as did Franky Wah’s “Come Together”, and more recently “Party” by DJ / producer Mista Jam, is hotly tipped as a huge hit!! With an effervescent attitude and so much energy, we can expect to hear more and more great things from Anelisa as her star continues its ascent. By Elisabeth Troy
