Biography

David Berlin was born in Jerusalem and studied cello with Lois Simpson at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and Channing Robbins at the Juilliard School of Music in New York. For over thirty years David has been at the forefront of music performance in Australia holding the positions of Principal Cello with both the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (1985 - 88) and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (since 1989). He has performed chamber music with violinists Kolja Blacher, James Ehnes, Nigel Kennedy and Sarah Chang and pianists Garrick Ohlsson, Emanuel Ax and Yefim Bronfman. David has appeared as soloist on the Tall Poppies, ABC Classic, Naxos and Decca labels.
