Singer/Song Writer CJay Philip is Artistic Director of Dance and Bmore and half of the collaborative duo behind the music for Voices of Carmen. A new production that premiered in Baltimore July 2019, is a musical adaptation of the opera Carmen set in a High School. The musical includes fresh arrangements of George Bizet’s compositions by Winston Philip and CJay. CJay has also written a dozen original songs from Pop to Hip Hop and R&B produced by her husband Winston. The 2019 cast recording features members of the original Baltimore cast. Voices of Carmen has gone on to add New Jersey teens and Atlanta youth to performances at the Atlanta Black Theater Festival and Kennedy Center Page to Stage Festival. A second Baltimore production is scheduled for Summer 2020 and the script and songs are now available for other cities to license and produce their own productions.
