Biography

Soft Boy Records own, GAPTOOF, is a London based producer who originally hails from Cork City, Ireland. GAPTOOF has been honing his craft since 2016, putting out a variety of Bandcamp beat tapes, playing live sets and landing production credits with artists like Kojaque, Luka Palm and Lord Apex. The end of 2019 would see GAPTOOF tick an item off his bucket list by playing Boiler Room London alongside the Soft Boy Records team. This showcased the producers skill not only as a beat maker but a selector as well. In the early months of 2020, GAPTOOF released his debut project Looks Like Rain which boasted an impressive list of collaborators namely Kojaque, Kean Kavanagh, Kofi Stone and Yenkee. Lead singles from the project, Dean Street and Dreamcatcher both received radio recognition on platforms such as BBC 1Xtra, NTS radio and Reprezent Radio. GAPTOOF would finish out 2020 with a long awaited collaboration with rising Glaswegian rapper CHLOBOCOP. After a busy 2020, GAPTOOF started out this year with a different type of project with THE SPACE TAPE. This was a Bandcamp only release where all proceeds raised went to the Movement of Asylum Seekers Ireland. THE SPACE TAPE stemmed from weekly IG Live beat battles hosted by the producer, where the winners from every week landed a spot on the tape. 2021 also saw Gaptoof fulfill a dream collaboration with two London heavy hitters LEX AMOR, MANIK MC and Irish songstress Carrie Baxter, this resulted in 'Polymer'.
