Growing up with close connections to his musical elders, T - born Tehran Wilson - learned to authentically express himself at a young age. Raised in Acworth, Ga, an Atlanta suburb, T honed his keen ear for music by mastering the upright bass in his youth. Influenced by his father’s involvement with Atlanta’s hip-hop scene, T started rapping in 2015 when he was 16 years old, merging his extensive training in classical theory with the Southern trap sounds that permeated through his childhood neighborhood. Classically trained but unconventionally executed, he relentlessly delivers versatile freestyle flows over tracks underscored by dynamic instrumentational arrangements with melodic, 808 heavy patterns. Fostering a multiplicity of cadences and an ever-growing collection of eccentric voices, T harnesses his supercharged energies in the cultivation of his experimental sounds. Exploring the boundaries of contemporary music by going against the grain, T’s sounds are non-conforming. Through his artistic endeavors, T channels his high-spirited energies to grant his listeners access to “a perpetual state of up” – not just a direction, but a way of being.
