From the Big Band scene to Rockin Blue Jeans. Post Punk mean to Crooning and Clean. Western Wild and Then a real Mild Child. A Slick cool Cat in a trilby hat? Maybe leather and studs is where YOU'RE at. Cat Mantra is inspired by many genres. As you can see and hear from his music and videos. His own material is born of Generation X, as is he. From growing up in the 80's with the epic montage of colourful styles and imagery. Special credit must go to Bowie, all things Rockabilly, and the Post Punk incarnations of bands such as The Damned and Adam and The Ants. Then on the flip side is Cat's love of all things Swing/Big Band. He hasn't written a song in that genre (yet!) but loves interpreting classics of the American Song book. Heroes there include Frank, Tony Bennett, Matt Monro, and the King of cool himself, Dean Martin. Another must mention is Elvis Presley. John Lennon is quoted as saying 'If there hadn't been an Elvis, there wouldn't have been a Beatles.' Well, without Elvis, there wouldn't have been a lot of things..
