Biography

Phillip Harris is an Oakland based artist and music educator. Initially musically inspired by the operatic music played by his grandmother, the soulful sounds of the DeBarge family, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and contemporary gospel and hymns from the baptist church, Phillip has paved a unique career as a musician. He currently teaches at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Menlo School. He has sung with the San Francisco Symphony, Aspen Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Opera Las Vegas, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, the San Mateo Masterworks Chorale and Orchestra He's been a soloist at venues like Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center and has been a guest lecturer at the Peabody Institute and Westminster Choir College to name a few. He is a bay-area award winning musical director for his work with Camelot with the Mountain Play where he also performed the role of King Arthur. He is co-chair of student auditions with the local National Association of Teachers of Singing. Recent teaching posts include UNLV, Stuart Hall for Boys, and Head-Royce.
