Biography

Diones Correntino is a Brazilian musician with different backgrounds since the academic classical music and jazz music. As a pianist/composer he seeks to direct his performance to different artistic fields by exploring interpretation, composition and improvisation based on his originals and recreations with the repertoire of Brazilian music and other genres. He has already performed as solo pianist and ensembles in the EUA and France and in some festivals in Brazil, as the series "Instrumental Guiomar Novaes" , promoted by Cecília Meireles Hall. Alongside his artistic activities, currently he works as an assistant teacher at the School of Music and Drama of the Federal University of Goiás-Brazil. He holds a doctor degree in music from Unicamp-Brazil. In 2020 with the support of the Brazilian Government (CAPES-PrInt scholarship), he studied musicology in Paris- França at the Institute of Research in Musicology of the Sorbonne Université. In 2015 he released the album Diones Correntino Quartet- Som Mestiço. The album, which also featured the saxophonist Mauro Senise on the track "Pianeiros", was praised and recommended as one of the greatest Cds of the year of 2015, in the Brazilian instrumental music genre, according to the music critic Carlos Calado, author of the blog Música de Alma Negra and journalist of the journal Folha de São Paulo. site: www.dionescorrentino.com
