On my debut album, ‘The Game’, collaborations with Linnea Dale and Silje Høgevold and generous contributions from several established musicians (Hans Magnus Ryan (Motorpsycho), Lars Horntveth and Even Ormestad (Jaga Jazzist), Arne Kjelsrud Mathisen (Rural Tapes), Øyvind Blomstrøm (Orions Belte), and all members of Pow Pow including producer Sigurd Thomassen) both elevated the quality of the record and affirmatively evaluated the quality of my songwriting. On ‘Jugband Changeling’ there is a bit more of me and a bit less of all these mad geniuses that keep validating my songwriting by agreeing to collaborate with me. "Black Friday Blues" is the first of four singles from "Jugband Changeling". Here I'm directing a skewed gaze at the Black Friday as well as at the materialistic rat race of human life in general, as it can certainly feel sometimes. The next single "Changeling" celebrates unconditional love and the sacrality of claiming parenthood. Then "La Lela", a sassy bossa nova infused with André Roligheten's smooth jazz saxophone, grapples with the widespread human condition of being blissfully clueless about one's own cluelessness. Lastly "Silver Spoon / The Dream" explores egotism in a world of common yearning for love, bliss and material security. Jugband Changeling is about being human and how being human is something constant. We yearn for a savior who must be everything we are not: capable of change, fluid and undefinable, a changeling from outer space.
