Biography

Cerrone is operating a radical come-back to his roots, bringing-back his first afro-disco-rock band. In spring 1970, the young Marc Cerrone operates a major change in his life. He resigns from his job as a music manager in a famous resort to devote himself to his true passion : making music and playing the drum. He heads out onto the streets of Saint Tropez, playing in front of the coolest bars at the time, attracting the attention of Eddie Barclay, a known figure on the local scene who books acts for a local club. His first gig at the legendary Papagayo is a success, and Barclay signs him and his musicians to his record label by the end of the summer. After recording two album, Cerrone quits the band, but remains loyal to his musicians. Kongas would certainly go on to shape his hits to come. Fast-forward to Spring 2019, Marc Cerrone, the multi-platinum-selling artist brings his first ever band back to life, calling the young generation with the same Afro-disco-rock live zeal than the one of their elders a few decades before. He produces new track for the unfailing heirs of an hedonism that has never felt the crunch. Only one rule for this new Kongas: the recordings have to be one take live. “Ready to Roar” the first single, mixed by JOSHUA BLAIR (Mark Ronson, Jamiroquai, Depeche Mode, Paul McCartney) is to be followed by a four-part EP featuring three new tracks and one original Kongas song, that the musicians recorded in one afternoon at the old parisian Vogue studio.
