If you haven’t yet heard about the Stamford born and raised rapper, Skeezy; you soon will. The 27 year old battle rapper turned main stream rapper is an up and coming talent from the West Side of Stamford’s Fairfield Court. From the ripe age of 12, Skeezy was battle rapping with people twice his age. Impressing peers and rappers alike, he quickly gained the reputation of being a lyrically skilled; original rapper. Skeezy will tell you that he is from the era of Hip Hop, where you actually had to have skills, not just a catchy beat and auto-tune. Originally, a part of a rap group, Skeezy realized that being a part of a group was not the direction he wanted to go for his career. Like many before him, he decided to make the jump and branch out as a solo artist. Leaving the battle rap scene behind in 2010, Skeezy dedicated himself to solely focusing on his career as a song writer/rapper. Having put out multiple mixtapes in the past, Skeezy’s first official studio album, “Even the Odds”; was released in 2016. When asked for the motivation behind, “Even the Odds”, Skeezy said, “The odds seem to be against those growing up in less fortunate areas, but I think I learned how to live and build with what I had. I took full advantage of my voice and the knowledge that was given to me by watching what not to do, in order to make it out of my circumstances. I know that I evened the odds that were against me.”
