Unlike most of the "high school" bands, Youssef Amarey & Youssef Ashraf (Known as y2 / Y SQUARED) are trying to achieve a different sound, making a combination between electronic experimentations and rock music instruments, The first plays guitar and bass & the latter plays keyboard & drums. The band started back in 2016 when both were 17 years old high school students in Cairo, Egypt , It was a weird experience at first because Amarey knew almost nothing but rock and metal music while Youssef Ashraf was dreaming of himself as a DJ/EDM Producer, but sooner they found something similar in their musical taste which is their love to the melodies despite the genres.
