Biography

Hailing from Québec City (Canada), 5 for Trio set out to mix things up in the jazz scene in 2013, blending modern jazz with a hint of progressive vibes. The band’s debut did not go unnoticed as they released two albums in quick succession : "Witness & Reactions" (2014) and "Garder la tension" (2015). 5 for Trio has since made waves at festivals in Montréal, Québec City, Rimouski, Edmundston, and Lévis, and even took the stage at the renowned Festival d’été de Québec. Other notable shows include venues in Ontario, New Brunswick, Nunavut, and France. In 2019, the band expanded their musical horizons by teaming up with hip-hop maestro Webster for a fresh collab, releasing the album “Webster & 5 for trio”, followed by the “Sky” EP in 2020. 2023 is a significant year for the band in two distinct ways. First of all, 5 for trio welcomed a new band member : Jérémie Hagen-Veilleux on keys and piano, injecting fresh ideas and extra creativity. Now a quartet – not your average trio – they released throughout the year a series of new singles, building anticipation for the unveiling of their EP, "Aquafortiste," which took place on October 6th. This EP (available on Bandcamp) features four exciting singles (available on Spotify) from the band's 2023 repertoire.
