Biography

While the term ‘supergroup' is usually reserved for gatherings of rock royalty, Session A9 took the term to Scotland and replaced all the pomp and guitars with traditional Scottish fiddlers. Formed by Capercaillie fiddler Charlie McKerron as an ‘album project,' this four-fiddler experience had staying power, and became a full time endeavour for all involved. Named after the highway that connects Glasgow and Inverness, Session A9 -- fiddlers Charlie McKerron, Adam Sutherland, Gordon Gunn, and Kevin Henderson, guitarist Tim Edey, keyboardist Brian McAlpine, and Iain Copeland on drums -- released their first album, What Road? in 2005. Their follow up, Bottlenecks and Armbreakers, released a couple of years later, was followed by a British tour. ~ Chris True, Rovi
