Biography

Violinist William Shaub was appointed Concertmaster of the Knoxville Symphony in 2017, and has served as a frequent Guest Concertmaster with orchestras around the world, including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, The Phoenix Symphony, The Jacksonville Symphony, and the Spoleto Festival Orchestra. He has appeared as violin soloist in a vast repertoire, from the standard classical and romantic masterpieces to Ligeti’s Violin Concerto (1993) and Michael Schachter’s “Cycle of Life” Violin Concerto (2021). During his time studying at the Juilliard School, he performed as soloist in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center and he continues to perform as soloist with orchestras throughout the United States, with important debuts at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and Sanders Theatre at Harvard. His recordings and live recitals have been broadcast to critical acclaim on PBS, BBC 5, and NPR’s Classical FM, where he can be heard performing Barber’s Violin Concerto.
