The Marquis is Dead, formerly known as The Marquis, is the solo project of Dillon Steele, self described as "Anti-Industrial Apocalypse for Modern Dystopia". It is meat-cuttingly cruel music with an experimental sound, somewhere on the border of electro-industrial and metal. Originating in Montreal with his decidedly Post-punk debut 'The Marquis', released in 2015 with Art Not Love Records (Named in the top albums of the year by cult underground music magazine Silent Shout), The Marquis is Dead has a prolific and eclectic discography, constantly evolving as so does the artist himself. His sophomore album, the brilliant 'The Suburbs Dream of Bloodshed' was released under the care of the cult Berlin record label [aufnahme + wiedergabe] in 2021, followed by the deranged VHS audio-visual concept album released with Strange Therapy Records of Amsterdam later that year. In March 2022, he self-released the ultra-weight industrial EP titled 'PLAGUE YEARS', and in 2023 with Berlin's X-IMG records, his experimental EP 'Malaür' was a departure from his consistently heavy industrial, exploring a softer side of his sonic palette.
