Biography

Alighieri isn't formally musically trained and sees this as positive, unique and integral to his music. For Alighieri, music has long since been a source of support, identity and inspiration. He has used it to understand the world, connect with people, and to inspire his own visual creativity. Growing up Alighieri immersed himself in the explosion that was the 1990s music scene - absorbing ‘Britpop’ and Drum and Bass in equal measure. Initially channeling his enthusiasm via DJing at house parties and making crude mixtapes, Alighieri felt that without any formal training, creating music was beyond him. That enthusiasm eventually accepted a place as an observer on the music scene, despite occasional attempts at playing an instrument. That is until he got his Apple phone and downloaded RemixLive. Suddenly the music technology that was seen on festival and arena stages was there in his hand and that enthusiasm was awoken as he explored the possibilities - these were collected in his AudioArt Sketchbooks, the final pieces forming the tracks for his debut album, Ignite. Alighieri’s influences are reflected in the playlists included on his profile and include Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky, and Goldie. He cites Timeless, Endtroducing, Music for the Jilted Generation, Maxinquaye and Mezzanine as influential albums. Alighieri’s concept of AudioArt believes in no boundaries, all possibilities.
