Biography

James L. Tyler, widely recognized by his stage name Dough the Freshkid (DTFK), emerged from Gary, Indiana, and found his roots in the vibrant Crenshaw District of Los Angeles, CA. Departing from the conventional pursuit of a record deal, DTFK boldly established his independent label, Every Penny Count (EPC), in 2009, meticulously constructing EPC Music Group from the ground up. DTFK's journey has seen him grace the stage alongside an array of mainstream luminaries, including DJ Quik, PacDiv, The Kool Kids, DMX, Outkast, E40, Wu-Tang Clan, and more. A rising force, DTFK's meteoric ascent is evident through escalating viral metrics, boasting substantial followings on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and beyond. Recognized by prominent websites and blogs such as ItsBizkit, Genius.com, Hip Hop Weekly, WorldStar Hip Hop, and The Source, his music videos have left an indelible mark. The discography of DTFK comprises four official projects, namely "Arlington Avenue" (January 17, 2017), "Black Rome" (November 22, 2018), "Tal's Cafe" (June 10, 2020), and "Keys" (February 14, 2022), all available on major music retailers. His debut single, "Add It Up," released on September 10, 2021, soared to the impressive position of #9 on the Hip Hop/Rap US Single charts. Undoubtedly prolific, DTFK continues to make waves, recently unveiling his fifth studio album "Rich in the City" on December 31, 2023, with preparations underway for an eagerly anticipated new project.
