Biography

An R&B soulstress with an unusual command of both silky melody and uncanny hip hop lyricism, June Elizabeth may not yet be a household name. But with the release of her 4 track EP, “ The Missing Peace” in 2018, and her most recent single, “ Good Vibes Only ”, the Richmond, Virginia born artist is staking her rightful claim as one of brightest prospects of a neo soul genre that has seen artist such as Erykah Badu, Raheem DeVaughn, as well as fellow Richmond native, DeAngelo, rise to both critical acclaim and commercial success. Raised in south Richmond, Virginia, June Elizabeth began her singing career as a member of her church’s youth choir. Like many artist before her she marks this period as formative in igniting her passion for music. Then, fueled by creative conviction and at the behest of fellow band members and family, she recorded the proto tracks for what would eventually become her first EP “ Way Past Due” released via SoundCloud in 2016. Her sophomore EP “ The Missing Peace ” (2018), opens with the track “Can We”, a smooth production overlaid with tastefully suggestive lyrics that harken back to the days of 90’s R&B. Yet, on her most recent single “ Good Vibes Only ”, June returns to form, this time drawing inspiration from a unique fusion of sounds. June Elizabeth is an artist who is in the tradition of the aforementioned neo soul legends before her while pushing the boundaries of the sound and content to new and experimental levels.
