First signed to Warner Records in 2003, she was hailed as the next big thing in music but things didn't quite go according to plan.... Alexis first picked up a guitar aged 14, inspired by Kurt Cobain and Elastica. She taught herself to put her poems to music and soon learned how to produce her own demos. After responding to just about every ad in the back of the NME, she managed to find a couple of regular co-writers and through them secured a huge publishing deal with Warner Chappell at the tender age of 21. A record deal with London/Warner Records followed but the album never saw the light of day. Alexis was broken-hearted but managed to place her two favourite songs from the album with Kylie Minogue and Rachel Stevens. Signing to Mercury/Universal in 2005 with a new album, Cocoon, she released the singles "Bad Haircut" and "It Could Be You", a co-write with Billy Steinberg (Madonna, Celine Dion), but the Cocoon album never saw the light of day. Following a viral campaign from fans, the Cocoon (Deluxe Edition) has finally been released, available on limited edition purple & white vinyl, CD and digital.
