Biography

De Maynes - early on in his childhood Thomas De Maynes discovered his love for the piano. Classical music developed into his personal place of retreat - a safe haven. When his parents due to a new employment had to move to a new residence young Thomas was unwillingly removed from his surrounding and had difficulties adapting to his new environment. His parents tried everything to make the new situation more pleasing to him. But he could not be encouraged by anything. One day Thomas heard something that immediately made him curious. As he ran downstairs to have a look he could not find anything in the new living room. So he followed the sound down to the basement into a packed storage room where his father sat at an old piano for which there was no other place. Through this experience, recent events appeared in a different light and awakened a youthful excitement aimed at the future. Up to this day, his father likes to describe the way in which his son's eyes lit up when he heard Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata for the first time. From this day on De Maynes has spent every spare minute at the piano. The antagonism between the black and white keys helped him to reconciliate the antagonism between his new surrounding and himself. Thomas De Maynes quickly realized which exceptional force music can create. “I hope to transmit some of the vigorous and healing powers which I received from music.“
