Biography

Ajax was a Swedish vocal group consisting of Karin Stigmark, Beverly Glenn Peter Lundblad & Göran Wiklund. They appeared on several "STAR recordings”, including Svensktoppar, Svensktoppen 1 (STAR inspelningar), Svensktoppen 2 (STAR inspelningar), Svensktoppen 3 (STAR inspelningar), Kavalkad (STAR recordings), Kavalkad 2 (STAR recordings) and Kavalkad 3 (STAR Recordings) where they sang most of the songs. They were also the backing singers of Melodifestivalen (the Swedish selection for Eurovision Song Contest) in 1974 and actually the first people to sing Waterloo in public - before ABBA! During five evenings in 1974, the week before that year’s Melodifestivalen, the songs from the contest were previewed by AJAX in a TV program called "Sveriges Magasin”. Later in 1974 the album Svensktoppen 2 was released, where Ajax performed a string of hits, including Waterloo. They also recorded an English version on the album "Star Hits 4" (Waterloo - Remastered 2024). Those recordings are as close as we get to that first (in hindsight epic) TV performance! They also released three original songs written by Peter Lundblad, Karin Stigmark and Anders "Henkan" Henriksson: Bättre sent än aldrig - Remastered 2024, Då går trollen i hans låt - Remastered 2024 & Västerbron (that also featured on the album Compromise by Svenne & Lotta. All songs and albums were arranged and produced by famous Swedish producer Anders ”Henkan” Henriksson (Midnight Sun Electric Orchestra/Container).
