SUND-R

Biography

SUND-R (pronounced “sunder”) is American disc jockey and producer Oskar Sunderland, who is trained in three instruments and originally began producing music as a casual hobby in 2015 at fourteen years old. Sunderland was raised in Seattle’s South End and was one of just thirteen white students in his entire graduating class at Cleveland High School, in what was at the time one of America’s most racially and economically diverse zip codes that is unfortunately succumbing to rapid gentrification and displacement. He began playing guitar at nine years old, cello at eleven, and bass guitar as a teen. He played guitar and bass at the annual Georgetown Carnival for several years as a part of the Seattle Drum School. Initially inspired to begin his producing journey by the melodic flow of EDM icons such as Avicii, Syn Cole, and Tobu, and later adapting a more complex rhythmic feel inspired by Xan Griffin and Porter Robinson, he now utilizes nearly a decade of producing expertise in pursuing the project SUND-R.
